DescriptionBasket made from one piece of birch bark that is folded up on the sides and secured with twisted pieces of basswood cord. Kelli Mosteller states, "The maple sap catching basket was a gift from Kevin Finney, who works for the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish (Gun Lake) band of Potawatomi Indians. He is also the Executive Director of the Jijak Foundation - http://www.jijak.org/ Kevin made the basket from wood harvested on Gun Lake land. He made it as part of a demonstration for a class (Creation of zisbakwet mkek) at the language conference (GPN 2016) and gifted us the final product. I believe Will filmed the making of the basket and posted it on our Youtube, so we have footage of it being made".
