DescriptionBeaded bag on a cream colored material. The back has no beading. Condition Report created by Stacy 10/14/2014 reads "Front: Ojibwa beaded bandolier bag. Loom-beaded central panel worked in bilateral angular arrangements of stylized floriforms, enclosed by zigzag bands and beaded yarn tassels. Similarly worked strap over black velvet partial-beaded panel of vines and blossoms. Back: Bandolier bag reverse is made up of a taupe colored woven cotton. The woven cotton is sewn in what appears to be three different sections that are all hand stitched to one another. The loom beaded central panel from front was hand sewn into woven cotton backside. However the top and bottom panels were loom beaded separately then attached and hand sewn onto the borders of the bag only. Numerous stains and discoloration appear throughout back of woven cotton fabric possibly indicating extensive use. A border of unknown red fabric borders entire bag and is what seems to be used as a border to bring two pieces together seamlessly[sic]." The PastPerfect record reads "Ojibwa beaded bandolier bag. Loom-beaded central panel worked in bilateral angular arrangements of stylized floriforms, enclosed by zigzag bands and beaded yarn tassels. Similarly worked strap over black velvet partial-beaded panel of vines and blossoms. Purchased at Butterfield and Butterfield auction for $2000.00, 5/1[1]/1998." The auction catalog and object label both read "The loom-beaded central panel worked in bilateral angular arrangements of stylized floriforms, enclosed by zigzag bands and beaded tassels, the similarly worked strap over a black velvet partial-beaded panel of vines and blossoms". There are two different types of beads (larger beads on velvet portion and on tassels- some missing). The beads are greasy yellow, black, green, light blue, dark blue, red, brown, purple, gray and white. The yarn on the tassels are green, red, purple, orange, white, and pink. Old photograph of object on display has a label that reads "19 Beaded [?} Bag".
