DescriptionWooden cane with dirk, painted black with an iron bottom tip and an non-ferromagnetic metal handle. The handle tip is metal in an flat oval shape with 2" wooden piece make up the handle of the dirk. The dirk fits into a triangular hole that has an upper edge of metal, but the rest is the interior of the wooden cane. On the outside of the cane, near the sheath opening is a non-ferromagnetic metal band that is not glued down (moves around). The middle of the wooden cane has been fixed with what appears to be black grip tape. The dirk is a total of 16.5" long with the exposed blade being 13.25". The blade has "acid etched floral design" as stated by the KSHS Specimen Information Record in the file. The blade has the same floral pattern on both sides. There is an "X" in the wood portion of the handle of the dirk that is directly above the blade. "Sword cane manufactured of dark wood, heavily lacquered with metal tip and metal handle. The sword blade has an acid etched floral design. The sword has been repaired with tape. There is minor rusting on the blade", as stated by Verna Detrich on 04/28/1983 in the Archaeology Department, Kansas State Historical Society Specimen Information Record.Collections
